Compulsion and Addiction – These issues are all based on the nature of the purpose of feelings and emotions. What are feelings there for? Feelings are there to help and guide you. All feelings are good. Your feelings are directly related to weather or not you are meeting your physical, mental and emotional needs. When you are or are not meeting those needs your feelings and emotions are there to guide you to meeting those needs.

When you are not meeting your own needs you get stuck in a cycle of emotions and until the feelings and emotional needs are met you continue to go round and round in this cycle of feeling bad. The only freedom from these feelings become distractions. So along the road you are angry, sad, lonely, depressed etc and find something that gives you temporary relief from this. Be it smoking, drinking, shopping, gambling, sex etc. For just that moment you feel free from your problems and get to indulge in ___. When you indulge the emotion temporarily goes away but beware because it is always temporary since the need for the feeling has yet to be met it returns. Then, usually the emotion comes back with vengeance. I don’t feel good emotionally, what can I do to make myself feel better? Indulge. You are not satisfying your needs, wants or desires. The indulgence has no effect on what is causing you to feel bad instead it just distracts you from those bad feelings. This is bad because it does provide some relief even though temporary. And when you run out of things to make you feel better you turn to the only thing that has worked. your indulgence. The problem continues in that you are still not achieving the reason the uncomfortable feelings are there. Unless you look at the feelings, address them and manage them you are stuck in this frustrating cycle. Of feeling bad and distracting.

After a while people get annoyed and even frustrated with the distracter they have chosen. I have to quit smoking, drinking, gambling etc. The distracter begins to be a source of embarrassment, frustration and lack of control over your own life. So people attempt to better their lives by simply removing the distracter, but since the emotion is still not dealt with now the people are stuck in the cycle of feeling bad and having no relief. This will only last so long, as long as your stubbornness and ability to focus elsewhere will last. You can only go so long feeling bad with no way out. So, many times people go back to the original distraction to get some relief because it gets to the point where feeling, as bad as you do, isn’t worth the success of removing the distracter. The more that cycle happens the more it reinforces the behaviors and the more frustrated you feel. Then you start feeling hopeless and eventually will get into a depressive state which causes you to stop trying because all of your attempts are met with failure. This is the body’s natural defense mechanism because what you are doing is not working. It causes you to stop banging your head into a brick wall. So the depression serves a purpose.

We are going to approach this in a very different way. The indulgence is not the problem it is merely a symptom to the problem. The problem is whatever continues to drive those negative feelings. Unless you deal with the actual problem you may never successfully manage the symptoms.

Depression – Depression is the body’s natural defense mechanism. If you continuously do something over and over and over and are constantly met with the same result your body will naturally put you into a depressive state telling you to quit trying because what you are doing is not working. This is your body’s way of stopping a behavior that is unhelpful and possibly dangerous if continued. Your ever intelligent brain tells you to give up, stop trying or don’t care. This keeps you from driving yourself in circles of frustration and anger.

Excessive Sweating – You Have seen the deodorant commercials correct? There is one in particularly that states that a large percentage of sweating is caused by emotions. So if you can get your emotions in check you can definitely get your overactive sweat glands in check. Ever been driving down the road and a car cuts you off and instantly the palms of your hands are clammy your back is moist or your dripping sweat from some other unattractive part of your body. You cant deny the correlation between your sweat glands being active and specific emotions.

The Fight or flight reaction in your body happens almost instantaneously. When your body goes into this reaction there are some common shifts that happen in your body, tense muscles (preparing you to put up a fight or to sprint away) Need to urinate (body removing fluids in preparation) And your adrenal glands fire in to high drive ready to react in a split second. What happens also is when your adrenals are in high drive your body sweats more. So if you are constantly in a stressful state, nervous anxious or too much of any emotion your body is almost constantly living in the fight or flight phase and your body cant control its perspiration. Calm your nerves calm your sweating it is that easy.

We offer two different approaches to help you quit smoking. We do this because we don’t believe in the one size fits all approach. Every person is different, every issue is different so we offer choices in the programs.

The first program we offer is the Quit Now program. This is a two session approach, the combination of the first and second session give a much greater effectiveness than can be provided by any one-session stop smoking approach. This approach may be right for you if you have quit in the past with little difficulty, you have successfully quit using hypnosis before, you are HIGHLY motivated to quit smoking.

The other approach is the therapeutic approach this is more of a thorough approach. It takes more of life into account when dealing with smoking. Most smokers can see that their habit is not simply just a habit. That stress and other emotions are a key player in their smoking. When smokers are under stress or experience other emotions the drive to smoke becomes much stronger. These are the times many smokers who attempt to quit fail. Not with hypnotherapy. We can eliminate the stressors that cause you to smoke. The Hypnotherapeutic approach is best for you if you have tried to quit before but failed because you became irritable or over emotional. You tried to quit before but failed because of weight gain. Just thinking about quitting it makes you nervous and emotional. There are two main factors that have caused or at least contributed to your weight issues. First of all bad habits, be it what you eat, drink or lack of exercise. Sometimes these habits are very difficult to break on your own. This is where hypnotherapy helps. The second issue is the association of food and emotions. Many people are emotional eaters and some people fail to recognize that pattern in their own lives. Our approach will help you to take back control over those bad habits and to help you manage stress so you can change the relationship you have with food.

How it works. First of all your Hypnotherapist will listen to you and get a history of you and your weight struggle. Find out the key players in your life that have added to your weight struggle or made it difficult to conquer. You will then cover your history of weight, eating patterns and what you have tried in the past. All of this information helps you and the Hypnotherapist to design an individual therapeutic approach to customize your treatments for your best success based on your individual personality and struggles. Then you will be given the time to get answers to each and every question you may have regarding hypnosis and or your own personal issue. Then you will be guided into hypnosis. You are then given the suggestions that have been customized for you. All you have to do is follow instructions to achieve a sufficient level of hypnosis where all of the changes you desire can be made.

Your Hypnotherapist is more than just a hypnotist they have been trained to help you overcome the old hang-ups and road blocks you have struggled with in the past. The ones that have caused you to overeat or eat when you are not truly hungry. This process and some education will help you to greatly reduce the desire to overeat, or eat when you are not hungry.
